Location and Environment

Oman is located in the southeastern corner of the Arabian Peninsula, strategically bordering key Gulf nations and overlooking vital international waters.
Its climate is primarily hot and arid, with the exception of the tropical Dhofar region in the south.
The diverse environment of Oman—including deserts, mountains, wadis, beaches, islands, and plains—has profoundly influenced its cultural and social development.
The vast deserts encompass the al-Wahiba Sands and parts of the Empty Quarter, while mountain ranges such as Jabal al-Akhdar shape the northern landscape.
Fertile plains like al-Batinah and Jarbib have historically supported agriculture and settlement, complementing the rich coastal and island geography of Oman.
